The EIU Volunteer Fair, that featured organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and Haiti Connection, all in booths in the South Quad, was available for students from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. This podcast features a few of those volunteer organizations, including interviews from Jaleesha Maury, Rebecca George, Julie Lebeille, Steven Joebgen, and Curtis Ropiequet.
On Monday, April 20, Catherine Spannagel, sexual health education coordinator at the HERC, put on the presentation "Battle of the Sexperts" to find out how much students knew about sexual health. One of the competitors was Valorre Harmon, senior health studies major, who answered 15 questions correctly and, in turn, won 15 condoms. Click play to listen to their reactions to the event.

Yoram Bauman, a part-time teacher at University of Washington with a Ph.D. in economics, can still find something to joke about despite the dismal state of our economy. 4. Reflecting on the smoking ban
After living with the smoking ban for a year now, students gave some insight to online reporter Sam Sottosanto about how they felt about the ban and how it has changed, or not changed, their smoking habits. Listen to the podcast to hear what students had to say about how the smoking ban has affected their lives after living under the law for an entire year.
Several representatives from different student groups, including Women's Studies, the Asian American Association, the Black Student Union and EIU Pride, reclaimed the use of slurs in today's society during a panel in Lumpkin Hall on Tuesday night. Students discussed how they felt about certain words and reflected on how derogatory slurs are used. Caution: Derogatory words are used in the podcast.

Shirley King, daughter of blues legend B.B. King, will perform with Sippy and the Night Owls at JeLeniz Martini Bar, 1414 Broadway Ave., Mattoon, at 9 p.m. today. On Thursday, she held a meet-and-greet at 4th Street Records and Verge Editor Marco Santana sat down and spoke with her about her father, the blues and her efforts to bring blues music education to the next generation of music fans.
7. Matt Senreich on 'Robot Chicken' and its second Star Wars special
Assistant Verge Editor Jason Duarte spoke with Matt Senreich, co-creator of Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken," about the DVD release of the third season of the show. Senreich discusses the second reincarnation of the series' Star Wars special, which is due to air on November 16.

In honor of Family Weekend, Verge Editor Marco Santana spoke with last weekend's entertainment, comedian Bill Engvall, who is famous for his stint on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. 13. Shannon McNamara 4k honors former student
Over the weekend the fifth annual 4k Run/Walk for Shannon McNamara honored the memory of the former Eastern student who was raped and murdered in her apartment near Eastern on June 12, 2001. McNamara was an Alpha Phi sorority member, physical education major and member of the Physical Education Honors Club. "Pureland Buddhism", a lecture given as part of Asian Heritage Month, brought Buddhist master Thich Nu Nguyen Thien to campus Monday afternoon. 17. Sigma Phi Epsilon wins collegiate bowl
On Tuesday, Greek Week's collegiate bowl took place in the Martin Luther King Jr. Union. Unlike in past years, this year's contest was split into two bowls: one for fraternities and one for sororities. Online Reporter Seth Miller stopped by to talk to the winning fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, as well as Robyn Paige, special assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Logan Jones, a sophomore accounting major who judged the night's contest. Paige has been "splitting Greek life responsibilities" with Kelly Miller, associate director of Housing and Dining Services, since former Greek Life Director Bob Dudolski submitted his resignation, Paige said.
On Saturday, the first student film festival took place in Buzzard Hall auditorium and "No Beer in Here,"a college life satire on students who don't drink, won first place. Online Reporter Seth Miller talked to A.J. Schubert, one of the co-creators of the film, to discuss his mockumentay of college life, which was largely based on people that Schubert knows, and the pressures of not drinking at college. Miller also talked to Nick Gracyalny, the University Board's movie coordinator, to discuss how the movie will be put on a college film tour to be viewed across the nation.

Seventy-one students volunteered this year to go to nine sites throughout the country during next week's spring break. The program costs $150 and takes students to as far North as Canada and as far south as Florida. Barth sat down with staff reporter Marco Santana to speak about the program and his interest in it.
