Over the weekend the fifth annual 4k Run/Walk for Shannon McNamara honored the memory of the former Eastern student who was raped and murdered in her apartment near Eastern on June 12, 2001. McNamara was an Alpha Phi sorority member, physical education major and member of the Physical Education Honors Club. Kambic sat down with Rep. Chapin Rose to discuss his anger at Gov. Rod Blagojevich's recent higher education funding cuts. Eastern will lose 1/12 of its annual funding. Rose also encourages students and their parents to contact their hometown representatives to gain state-wide support for higher education. On Tuesday, Greek Week's collegiate bowl took place in the Martin Luther King Jr. Union. Unlike in past years, this year's contest was split into two bowls: one for fraternities and one for sororities. Online Reporter Seth Miller stopped by to talk to the winning fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, as well as Robyn Paige, special assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Logan Jones, a sophomore accounting major who judged the night's contest. Paige has been "splitting Greek life responsibilities" with Kelly Miller, associate director of Housing and Dining Services, since former Greek Life Director Bob Dudolski submitted his resignation, Paige said.

On Saturday, the first student film festival took place in Buzzard Hall auditorium and "No Beer in Here,"a college life satire on students who don't drink, won first place.
