Panther Briefs: Men's golf jumps to sixth

Eastern men's golf team is in sixth place out of 10 teams after the second round of the three-day Ohio Valley Conference Championships at the Paducah Country Club in Paducah, Ky.
The Panthers shot a team total of 305 (+17) and has a combined total of 623(+47) for the first two rounds, which is three strokes behind Samford.
Eastern Kentucky is in the lead with a team score of 580 and has the top three individuals.
Panthers' senior Mike Imburgia moved up 19 spots and is in a tie for eighth place after a second-round 72 (E). Imburgia shot an 80 in the first round and sits at 152 (+8) following two rounds of play.
Senior Matt Imburgia dropped nine spots into a tie for 20th with a second-round 80 following a first-day 76 that was good for a tie for 11th.
Sophomore Matt Bird sits one shot behind Matt Imburgia as he has a two-day score of 157, which is good enough for a tie at 23rd.
The final round of the tournament begins at 8 a.m. today. Live scoring of the event can be viewed through the OVC Web site.
Baseball starts five-game road trip
The Eastern baseball team will play five tough road games this week, and it starts with a 6 p.m. non-conference game against Missouri in O'Fallon, Mo.
The Tigers (28-10) are ranked No. 10 in the nation in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 coaches poll and won two of three against Oklahoma this weekend.
Eastern lost two of three to Jacksonville State this weekend to drop to .500 on the season (18-18).
Freshman pitcher Josh Mueller will get a rare midweek start for the Panthers against the Tigers. Mueller pitched just two innings on Saturday against JSU because of a two-hour rain delay.
Eastern head coach Jim Schmitz said Tuesday's are Mueller's normal mound day, so he would get the midweek start in place of that mound work.
Panthers to play make-up doubleheader
Two of the Eastern softball team's 17 canceled games this season will be played Tuesday in Muncie, Ind,
The Panthers play the first game of the doubleheader against Ball State - which was originally scheduled for March 18 - at 2 p.m.
Eastern lost two of three games against Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala., this weekend. The Panthers have lost four of their last six games.
Ball State (30-24) has won seven of its last 11 games but split a conference series against Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo this weekend.
