"The applications have to be turned into Laurel Fuqua and no one else," Birch said. "She will not accept any late applications what so ever and they have to be in her hand at noon on Tuesday, April 1."
Student body president candidate Bobbie Mitchell said his party, Students Wanting Action Today, has all the required signatures for the applications.
"All of our applications are complete, but we're determining which districts our senators should run in and then we will turn them all in together," Mitchell said.
Mitchell is currently a member of the Student Senate.
Each application needs 100 signatures from registered Eastern students petitioning for the candidate to be in the election.
Levi Bulgar, student executive vice president and student body president candidate said his party, Student United Party, would also have their petitions in before the deadline tomorrow.
"Student United Party will have our petitions in before the deadline tomorrow," Bulgar said on Monday. "We are in the final process of finalizing the districting of our senators."
Student Senate member Eric Hiltner, the third student body president candidate, represents the United Party of Students. He said his application has already been submitted, but he could not comment on the status of the party because current senator Chris Kromphardt is the party leader.
Kromphardt was unavailable for comment.
"If someone does not meet the correct requirements, they cannot run and they do not get a chance to change anything," Birch said. "If for some reason they do not have the correct number of signatures then they cannot run."
Birch said she has not experienced any complications with candidates meeting requirements in past years. After candidates' eligibilities are verified, Birch will decide the candidates' place on the ballot.
The ballot placement will take place at 12:30 p.m., Thursday in the Bridge Lounge, Birch said.
The names of the candidates will be placed in a hat and drawn out one by one. The order in which the names are drawn will determine the candidates' positions on the ballot, Birch said.

Tired of Him

Is anyone else sick and tired of Levi. This kid is everywhere and does all of these "big things" but really never gets any work done. He runs around and tries to tell others how to work and what they need to do but has constantly fallen down on the job. (Continued…)

Hey, I'm sorry about not being able to comment on behalf of United Party of Students for this article. My phone has been having horrible service as of late, so I was not available when Rick Kambic tried to contact me. (Continued…)
