51st Mathematics teaching conference today
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is hosting the "No Foolin', We're A+" conference on teaching mathematics.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. outside of the Grand Ballroom in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. The general session starts at 8:30 a.m.
The 51st annual conference will include two general sessions and three breakout sessions that will include information about teaching mathematics from the pre-kindergarten through the university-level.
Ruth Messein, 2008 Illinois Teacher of the Year, and Henry Kepner, President-elect of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, will speak at each general session, respectively.
The Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Eastern's College of Education and College of Sciences are among the sponsors for the conference.
DENnews.com nominated for a Pacemaker
DENnews.com, online edition, is a finalist for the 2008 Associated Collegiate Press Online Pacemaker.
The ACP received 155 entries for the online contest, ranging from daily newspapers to feature magazines.
DENnews.com is competing in the four-year daily newspapers category that includes online editions from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Indiana University, University of Kansas, Syracuse University, Kent State University, Pennsylvania State University, Virginia Tech, and University of Texas at Arlington.
The winners of the contest will be announced in October at the national College Media Advisers conference.
Return your textbooks early
Students can return textbooks to Textbook Rental any time during the semester. The final deadline to return Spring 2008 textbooks is 3 p.m. on May 2. More information can be found by clicking here.
