In connection with this event, the DEN's editor-in-chief, Marco Santana, had a chance to sit down with Perry and talk about his hobbies, the transition he has had to make in the first four months on the job and his childhood. "If faculty don't have academic freedom to pursue research and teach what they know best, then you won't serve as an honest educational unit," Delman said. Ruthimus Prime visited campus Monday night. Whether or not he was related to Optimus Prime was never answered. The Trashformer paid a visit to the basketball courts across Seventh Street. Trashformers, a Student Government sponsored event, had teams from residence halls build a figure out of recyclable material and the cool temperatures did not stop the teams from showcasing their accomplishments. As the flu season approaches, Health Service at Eastern has a solution for students who do not want to be slowed down by the flu. Today and on Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Health Service will hold a flu clinic in the Career Services building. The clinic is held specifically for students, and no appointment is needed. Tonight's city council meeting will be short, with only a few items on the agenda. However, at the end of the meeting, Col. Richard Jaehne, director of the Illinois Fire Service Institute, will present the Charleston Fire Department with a panoramic picture for its contributions to the Illinois Fire Service Institute during the National Explorer Conference. Langendorf, training director of Local 149, will contribute to the hands-on activity event today, hosted by the School of Technology's Construction Club, in which students will have the opportunity to gain experience in masonry, pipefitting and welding. Minister, director of special projects for World Relief and motivational speaker - John Cassis has had a busy life. Cassis, 12-year inspirational speaker for the Chicago Bears, will be on campus today to speak from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. (0) comments

Professors get an education

Multimedia in the classroom was the theme of the concluding presentations of the "Wholesome Professor" series Monday morning. Linda Ghent, assistant professor of economics, presented "Using Popular Culture in the Classroom," which discussed how teachers could use video clips from various popular culture resources to better connect with their students. Rugby team raffles for money for new uniforms The rugby team is having its first annual fundraiser selling raffle tickets to purchase new uniforms. Tickets cost $5 and the drawing will be help November 28 at Boxa. First place winners will receive $1,000. Second place winners $150 and third place will receive $100. (0) comments
