Eastern women's tennis is forming a trend with close matches, albeit a harmful one. The Panthers lost 4-3 against Northern Iowa Saturday afternoon. Not only did Samford close out Seibert Hall, but the Bulldogs also closed-out the Panthers' season. Eastern's 70-49 loss on Saturday eliminated any chance of the Panthers making back-to-back trips to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Panthers (6-5), on the strength of a complete-game pitching performance from junior Karyn Mackie and key RBIs from Angela Danca and Megan Nelson held off Missouri State 3-2 in Eastern's first game Sunday in the five-team tournament. In the history of the Ohio Valley Conference, no two teams had ever won both the men's and the women's indoor track and field conference titles. That changed Saturday. For the third time in the last four years, Eastern will not qualify for the eight-team Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
