SAAC extends service to student body

The Student Athlete Advisory Council wants to help out Charleston in return for the community's continued support at games and athletic events. The SAAC will do so by sponsoring a canned food drive through Nov. 20. Brenton Emanuel, SAAC's adviser, said this is the first year the organization has made its food drive known campuswide. Integrative learning is nothing new to Eastern. Students have long been encouraged to combine classroom and real-world experiences. Fifteen Eastern employees, including faculty and Blair Lord, vice president for academic affairs, attended an integrative learning conference sponsored by the American Association of Colleges and Universities in Atlanta Oct. The City Council will discuss the possibility of more energy savings at its regular meeting today. The council approved an energy contract on Oct. 20 for 2010-2011 that will save the city an estimated $120,000. Nontraditional students honored

Monday night "light snacks" were handed out to nontraditional students in the entryway of Klehm Hall in celebration of National Nontraditional Student Week. Kim Redfern, adviser within the general studies degree, said a nontraditional student is anyone who does not fit the mold of an 18- or 19-year-old student coming to college without financial responsibilities.
