Capital campaign moves slowly

Eastern, like the national economy, is facing fiscal difficulties as state and federal aid is undecided and the Eastern endowment, a fund that supports student scholarships, has decreased significantly. (0) comments

As in-house scholarships become more competitive and lessen their awards, students may be looking for outside scholarships to help supplement their finances for their time at Eastern. Energy Center depends on bill

President Bill Perry believes the university should have as much information as possible when it comes to tracking legislation in Springfield. He said, on a consistent basis, many bills affecting higher education and the operations of state agencies flood the legislature, which makes it difficult for the university to stay informed with the different bills. Historic site funding reinstated to 11 sites throughout state by Gov. Quinn

Lincoln Log Cabin to re-open

The Lincoln Log Cabin in Lerna is scheduled to re-open next week. Site Manager Matthew Mittelstaedt said the historic site would open by April 23. The site has been closed since Dec. 1, after former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich cut funding to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency during the summer. (1) comment
