The Illinois Capital Development Board concluded its inspection of the Dvorak Concert Hall in the Doudna Fine Arts Center on Nov. 21. The hall re-opened immediately following the inspection. Eastern's current steam plant is in survival gear, Gary Reed said. The plant, which was built around 1925, has serious deferred maintenance issues and could break down at any time, Reed, the director of facilities planning and management, said. Armando Hernandez appeared in the Coles County courts today in connection to a Nov. 19 home invasion in the 1500 block of First Street. Hernandez, 26, requested time to hire a private counsel and is ordered to reappear in court at 1 p.m. Dec. 15. Energy efficiency will come slowly to Charleston as city officials continue to work through the performance contract and energy audit presented by Siemens Building Technologies Inc.
