Part of President Bill Perry's proposed parking changes include security cameras in all campus lots. Now, this is a good idea. In recent events, on Nov. 2, the University Police Department reported that multiple cars were damaged while parked within the E parking lot just south of Stevenson Hall on Fourth Street. The Student Government and the University Police Department had a campaign in 2003 to register bicycles in an attempt to reduce bike theft. That was five years ago, but registering your bike is still just as easy. To register a bike, students must fill out a personal information card with UPD, get a serial and model number and put a sticker on the bike. (0) comments

I would like to begin today by giving my congratulations to President-elect Barack Hussein Obama. This has been said many times, but it is still worth repeating: His election as the first African-American president is a huge achievement, and shows how far our country has come since the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln. Based on Friday's editorial about Student Government, it seems that The Daily Eastern News feels responsible for giving everyone else advice. Apparently, however, The DEN did not listen to mine from Oct. 20. This newspaper, yet again, has misrepresented Student Government to the students of Eastern by bashing the organization for not doing anything this semester to represent the students. (0) comments
