Women's Soccer: Panther's season ends

Morehead State junior midfielder Lindsay Stefanini scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute as the Eagles ended Eastern's season with a 2-1 victory Tuesday night in the first round of the Ohio Valley Tournament. The Panthers took an early lead when sophomore forward Kaitlin Sullivan scored her second goal in as many matches in the 26th minute to put the Panthers up 1-0. (0) comments

Eastern head coach Lori Bennett saw first hand Saturday at Edwardsville a new foe that might give her Panthers trouble in future years. Ohio Valley Conference newcomer Southern Illinois Edwardsville methodically dispatched Eastern in a sweep (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) during the first regular match up between the recently christened rivals. The Eastern women's rugby team will travel to Clemson S.C., to play the Clemson Tigers at 6 p.m. today. The Panthers (8-0) will try to keep their perfect season alive as they face off against a difficult Tigers team. The 12-day layoff is the Panthers' longest of the season, but head coach Frank Graziano is not worried about the team being rusty. (0) comments
