Alpha Tau Omega, a fraternity built around leadership, scholarship and competitive drive hopes to come to increase Eastern's strong Greek life.
"What makes Alpha Tau Omega stand out is the opportunity to start something from the ground up," said Steve Silcock, the associate director of expansion for the Alpha Tau Omega National Headquarters. "It's a chance for the pledges to build their own traditions and make their mark here on campus."
"The students are very welcoming," he said. "It's been amazing."
As the recruitment director, Silcock will be on campus for the next month trying to get students interested in starting the Greek house on campus.
Silcock is interested in students who, for some reason or another, have not found their niche in the existing houses and wish to create their own.
Tri-Delta came to Eastern in the fall of 2004 for women to create a new niche in the Greek community.
"Eastern has one of the top Greek communities in the nation and we are leaders in many aspects of Greek life," said Kristen Agee, a senior mathematics and secondary education major and president of Tri-Delta.
The new Greek organization needs to build a reputation on campus and recruit before it can be fully established.
"In everything we do, we strive to represent Delta Delta Delta's philosophy and procedures," Agee said.
Greek organizations interested in expanding to Eastern are automatically allowed to recruit on campus due to a National Interfraternity Conference policy.
Drea Johnston, a senior English education major, believes that Eastern's population will keep the number of Greek houses low.
