Athletic director finalists named

The five finalists for the Eastern athletic director were named today at noon by athletic director search committee chair Mary Anne Hanner.

On-campus interviews for the finalists are tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-February.

Jean Berger has been at Drake since 1991 and is the associate athletic director for student services and the Bulldogs' senior woman administrator.

Barbara Burke is currently the deputy director of athletics and senior woman administrator at Wyoming. She has been at Wyoming since 1998.

Bruce Van De Velde is in his first year as the director of development at Missouri. He previously served as athletic director at Iowa State from 2000-06.

Terry Wanless is currently the athletic director at Sacramento State, and he previously served as athletic director at North Dakota and Western Carolina.

Vaughn Williams is the associate athletic director in charge of facilities and management at Connecticut. Williams previously served as assistant athletic director at Boston College and Toledo.
