Shantytown scheduled for April

Habitat for Humanity is sponsoring the 2008 Shantytown at 5 p.m. on April 11 at Charleston High School. The event, intended to increase community awareness of inadequate housing and homelessness, will raise funds for Eastern's Habitat for Humanity to build the "House that EIU built II" for a family in Coles County.

Hearing aid seminar to be held

The Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences is offering sessions for individuals who are considering hearing aids or for those who already own hearing aids and would like to maximize the benefits.

The sessions are held at 11 a.m. to noon on April 4, 11, 18 and 25 on the second floor of Eastern's Human Services Center. The cost is $20.

Return your textbooks early

Students can return textbooks to Textbook Rental any time during the semester. The final deadline to return Spring 2008 textbooks is 3 p.m. on May 2.

April 8 Lecture at Tarble canceled

The Tarble Arts Center has canceled a lecture by artist Bill Smith. The lecture was scheduled to take place April 8 at Tarble but was canceled at the artist's request.

There are no plans to reschedule the event.




Deadline for cap and gown orders today

This is the last day for graduating seniors to order caps and gowns for spring commencement exercises.

All orders need to be made by 11:59 p.m. today.
