21 points on a top-25 team, even in garbage time, is going to look fairly decent as far as subjective impressions go, which is important come playoff sleection time.

I'm not sure if the writer of this post actually watched the game or just looked at the box score, but from what I saw it wasn't a "domination" at all. The final score doesn't really tell the whole story. I think that the Panther football team has a lot to be proud of today and I may even go as far to say that U of I should be the one's hanging their heads a little low. Eastern is an extremely well coached team with alot of great athletes. You have to remember that several of those guys have to play on the kickoff and special teams as well. They had to work twice has hard as those guys. It takes alot of guts and drive to hang in there with a top 25 team that 2-3 is deep at every position. From what I saw today it looks like they're going to have a great season this year! Good job guys...you made this Panther fan proud!!!!

The Panthers played very hard against the Illini no doubt about it, but they were clearly outmatched. Juice literally was able to run at will against our defense which was tired by the 2nd quarter. (Kind of worries me w/ Ryan Perriloux coming to town in late September). EIU showed alot this weekend, and why they are the best team in the OVC. Bess proved that, when healthy, he is a great combo back. When Norris and Chevy return, the running game will be even more dangerous. I'm worried about Bodie Reeder though. Reeder is accurate, but he can not throw a ball past 10 yards. We have speed receivers, but we lack the deep ball qb. Hopefully Bodie will go long and the Panthers will go long in the playoffs! Go Panthers!

Of course they were outmatched. They were playing a team a level up. I agree that the defense looked tired, but like I said, you have to remember that many of them have to play on special teams as well. They just don't get the rest that those other guys do during the game. I think we'll see how good they once we play a team on a more level playing field. Bodie struggled a little bit too, but it seemed like their pass protection didn't give him a lot of good options. We'll see...Go Panthers!
