Abstract:
So often when you here an American athlete's name in the news, it is in a negative light. Constantly in the news you will hear about the players like Terrell Owens, Adam "Pacman" Jones and Tiger Woods. My thoughts are that, yes, these players do deserve to have their names plastered in the news for their mischief and misconduct because less privacy comes along with being a famous athlete or celebrity....

"In a society that seems very...dark, it's relieving to see another side."
I was expecting to hear about the wonderful things these players are doing, but their charity is considerably overshadowed by these violent stories.
"...shot and killed by his mother's ex-boyfriend."
"...trafficking the little girl to settle a drug debt...the girl's rape and murder.
"Shaniya Davis' body was found beside a rural road on Nov. 16."
You say, "Instead of dwelling on the actions that promote negative generalities and stereotypes, especially among minority athletes, I would like to shed some light on some positive acts that have come from them."
Almost speechless on that one. Negative generalities and stereotypes? I'm gonna make a big assumption and say that the two people brutally slayed in your story are both minorities and make an even larger assumption that both the killers were minorities as well. In fact, I'm not going to assume, because it's rather obvious.
It's almost as if this column was written by some White Nationalist as a joke. You couldn't have perpetuated the negative stereotypes any more if your life depended on it.
