This quite possibly could be the administration's best PR spin in awhile. Eliminating jobs in ITS now? Why not a year ago? Maybe the dire state of Illinois' economy could be a factor? So many questions that have so many answers.

The administration repeatedly stated only non-essential position would remain vacant. Now, they are cutting what they deem as non-essential positions that are occupied. What's next? Downsizing academic departments. Larger class sizes? So many questions that have so many answers.

I would hope this newspaper is asking those questions.

Well, as much as I hate to see anyone lose their job in this economy, it's good to see that EIU has a limit on the amount of surplus things they can have.

From what I hear, the people in these jobs have had this kind of thing coming to their department for awhile.

If only the higher ups could see the other places that could use a little bit of streamlining and refocusing.

It seems to me, that lately EIU is just throwing money into projects just to say they are a part of them, rather than looking deeper into what students and faculty actually use or want to use.
