This is one the saddest part for the whole community when a funnel of hero takes place. Its reminds the glory a supreme sacrifice made by our young man a women to let flag flying high all the time.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Lt. Soutworth. We were there the night he was comissioned at the Military Ball. I know in the back of everyones mind that night was the fact that this may be the last time we may see them. That fear became reality too soon for this young man. Our prayers are with you and all those that continue to serve in the military. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I had the pleasure of knowing South; he deployed to Afghanistan with my boyfriend. You couldn't have asked for a better man, a more honorable soldier or a more loving husband & father. South was always cutting up, but always getting things done. My heart goes out to his family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Know that South will be missed by all that knew him. I'll keep you in my prayers always.

I graduated from EIU back in 08'. I knew Jared well from his days in ROTC. We became friends when I lived in U-Court where we had ROTC guys upstairs and Jared would always come over. He is going to be greatly missed. I was unaware of the tragedy until now. I received a booklet from EIU with a remembrance in there for Jared and I broke. He was an amazing guy with a need to help others. I'm sure that is what he is still doing. My condolences to Chrissy and his kids! He spoke about his family often and it something I will NEVER forget!
